I went to the Church of the Good Shepherd in downtwon Jax last night to listen to/photograph a group of my peers performing the Monte Verdi Vespers. The piece is 134 years old and has never been performed in Jax before.

and somone brought a Seeing-Eye dog!

Two of the single most influential women in my entire life. My mom, and my second Mom, Grammy.

I also share their face.

Also- Molly’s pretty influential, too

First day of school jitterz

September 22, 2008

Today I started my Pre-internship at Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary School. I am in a 2nd grade classroom with roughly 16 children.I have always wanted to teach 6th grade (12 years old-ish). Always.

Today, as my first day as a pre-intern….I can safely say I NEVER WANT TO TEACH 2ND GRADERS.

But, it is a learning experience… and I will be in that classroom with those children until December….and I know it WILL be fun, I just have to learn to be a bit more patient and not get strung-out as easily.

Anyway, a little boy approached me in the class today, Zakary, and he handed me this tiny koala to go on the top of my pencil. It really made me smile and think about how things like this were so important and special when we were little.

It was a kind gesture from this little boy.

And when I was packing my purse to leave…he came over to me…tugged on my hand and told me he was in love with me.

:)

Oh hai, Obama

September 21, 2008

Today, Tony, Ben, Kirsten, Anthony and I went downtown into the city where Barack Obama was speaking and holding a rally.

We got the the Venue (Metro Park) at roughly 8:30am

stood in line until 12pm, when the gates opened

stood in a cluster of 1,200 people for 3 and a half hours, when Barack showed up to give his speech.

Now we are all sunburned and dehydrated, and certainly feel the pain in our legs from standing 8 hours straight (no, none of us sat at all)

But…it was well worth it.

not to mention really cool.

We were about 50ft from the Man of the Hour…even still…it was hard to take pictures* over other peoples’ raised hands and cameras…so I grabbed this shot of someone trying to do the same thing as me

New Things

September 13, 2008

My dear friend Angelique is a Senior in the voice program here at school. She possesses an incredible talent and will go far with it.

I had her hold my macro lens in front of her mouth to make her mouth look huge… but we couldn’t quite get the angle….maybe next time.

also: Shauna got new makeup.

Nope.

August 24, 2008

Mike came over today and amused me while I unpacked. Later that evening…er…morning…I picked his drunk-butt up and drove him safely home…..at 3:30am. Mike, you owe me ($10)
